Is There a Taxi App in Nicaragua?
Short answer: no — not one that will get you from Managua airport to the coast. Here is how rides actually work here, and how to put this site on your phone's home screen.
Not in the way you are used to. Uber does not operate in Nicaragua, and the few small local apps that exist cover parts of Managua and a couple of other cities. That is where it stops. Land at Managua airport in the evening with a hotel on the Tola coast or in San Juan del Sur, and there is no screen you can tap that will produce a driver willing to make a three-hour run at a price you can see in advance. The same is true at the Peñas Blancas border.
So travelers here do what Nicaraguans do: they arrange the ride beforehand with a driver they can reach. That is what this service is. You pick the route, the fare is published before you book, and an independent licensed Nicaraguan driver meets you at the terminal, the border or your hotel.
Add This Site to Your Home Screen
There is nothing to install from an app store — Nicaragua Taxi Services is a booking and dispatch service, not a ride-hailing platform. But you can add this site to your phone's home screen: it opens in one tap, keeps working on a weak signal, and puts your route and fare where you can find them without digging through email.
